No, it's Not Illegal. I Promise.

I am lactose intolerant. It should all be locked up and kept away from all other food options. It is not to be allowed freedom, it is the source of all our probl....what? That's not what it means? It just means I can't process it? Oh. Okay...

I am lactose intolerant. I don't process dairy like I should. It's not fun, it's painful. Turns out, approximately 30 million American adults have some amount of lactose intolerance by age 20. I am one of 30 million. You are probably one of the 30 million and just haven't realized it.

My sister has heard that Hemp Milk has a more dairy-like consistency. I bought this brand (it was cheap, and had pretty colors) to try. I will update you as soon as I have experimented.

I'm not a huge fan of soy. Not for lack of flavor. The chocolate soy tastes like a fudgesicle. However, we were never permitted regular consumption of chocolate milk. It was a treat. So I can't drink chocolate soy regularly. Vanilla isn't too bad, but I don't want to drink vanilla all the time either. Plain? No thank you. The texture just isn't something I can drink just because.

Vanilla soy is really good on granola and frosted mini-wheats, in case you were wondering. But you probably weren't.

I'm hoping the hemp milk will allow me to enjoy thinks like Cheerios again.

Rhoni swears by Almond Milk...she loves the stuff. From what I've seen, it's better for you than soy and closer to actual milk. Just a thought.

I like almond milk too. I think the kind I get is called Almond Dream, but I'm not sure. The thing with any of these types of milk substitute is that you don't get much protein. If you eat meat, though, then it's probably not a huge problem.

Unfortunately, I am unable to ingest anything nut related. :( Sad day.

I'm really hoping that the hemp milk works.

Newt! Can you be my new resident hippie? My current one drinks *real* milk! That's not helpful to me.

Well, before I agree to anything, what are my responsibilities?

I can totally be a hippie! I can't eat gluten, and I'm lactose intolerant (right now), too! My favorite soy milk is 8th Continent. SO yummy. I don't have the 'drinking vanilla all the time' issue that you do, though.

Newt: just need to be able to answer my questions about non-animal food type items. :) (Not all questions...just most)

Cindy: it's just too sweet! I'm not used to having sweet all the time, we weren't allowed. And you'd think as an adult I'd binge, but we were allowed enough that I only want them occasionally! So sad...

All right. I think I can handle it.
